About Fyne Ales
Founded in 2001, Fyne Ales Brewery is a family-owned farm brewery based at the head of Loch Fyne in rural Argyll. Brewing in converted farm buildings using water from the surrounding hills, the team produces a diverse range of modern, progressive beers rooted in quality, place and craft.
While known for their draught offering, Fyne Ales has continued to grow its presence in packaged formats, particularly within supermarkets and direct-to-consumer channels, using design and storytelling to build brand recognition beyond the bar.
The Challenge
As Fyne Ales expands its packaged range, the role of the label becomes increasingly important.
With a growing portfolio of cans and small-batch releases, the team need labels that:

Bringing Design to Life: Rook Nitro Stout
One standout project is the label for Rook Nitro Stout. A beer designed to deliver impact both visually and in experience.
The brief was clear: create a confident, single point-of-sale design that stands out in busy environments while communicating quality, provenance and how the beer should be enjoyed.
The result is a bold, contemporary stout label built around a striking central illustration of the rook, an enduring symbol of the brewery’s farmland surroundings.
A refined palette of deep blues, purples and charcoal tones, elevated with subtle gold detailing and a tactile rough touch varnish gives the product a distinctive presence while remaining true to the category.
From a production perspective, clarity and functionality were just as important as aesthetics. Integrated pouring instructions also form part of the label design, helping customers understand the nitro serve and ensuring a better first experience.
Elevating Premium Small-Batch Releases: Origins Brewing
Our collaboration also extends to Origins Brewing, Fyne Ales’ small-batch project focused on mixed fermentation and experimental beers.
Following a rebrand, the Origins labels required a more refined, premium execution to match the depth and craftsmanship of the beers themselves.
The new identity strips back visual noise in favour of clarity and material-led design. The previous iteration of the label design featured stock imagery to create texture, whereas the rebrand focusses on expression as opposed to representation. The new label designs were created using inks that were handmade using foraged botanicals from the surrounding landscape, embedding a true sense of place directly into the label.
To bring this vision to life, we supported with high-end print finishes, including foil detailing applied to a high-end label stock, ensuring the final product reinforces a premium, tactile experience that reflects the care and time invested in the beers themselves.
The result is a cohesive, flexible label system that allows each release to feel unique and differentiate themselves while remaining unmistakably part of the Origins range.
